Role overview  

Patterdale Hall, based in Glenridding on the shores of Lake Ullswater, Cumbria, is looking to recruit a person to work in a multi-post as a part-time Cook and part-time General Assistant. The role will be for a fixed-term commencing mid/late February 2018 until the end of October 2018.

The combined role of Cook and General Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the provision of catering services, as well as working within the areas of Housekeeping and Night watch. For the Cook part of this role, applicants should ideally have previous experience in food preparation and basic food hygiene.

The above position could be ideal for a person who is part of a couple as Patterdale Hall is also recruiting for a General Assistant and live-in accommodation is available.

Responsibilities

Position of Cook

To be responsible for the preparation, cooking and service of food, under the direction of the Patterdale Hall Residential Manager and/or in his absence the Cook in Charge, for the provision of catering services, in line with the requirements of the customer.

Position of General Assistant

A multi-functional role working in three main areas of Patterdale Hall; Catering, Housekeeping and Night watch.  At times will also assist with general maintenance.

Hours

Position of Cook

12 hours per week, between Monday and Sunday, for the period of the fixed-term.

 

Position of General Assistant

On average 25 hours per week, between Monday and Sunday, for the period of the fixed-term. 

Salary Up to £15,909.49 per annum, pro-rata for the period of the fixed-term

Holiday

28 days annual holiday. Pro-rata for the period of the fixed-term.

Pension

The Governors of Bolton School will offer new employees the opportunity to join the Bolton School Group Personal Pension Scheme. The employee will be given the option to choose their contribution but as a minimum all members will be required to contribute 6% of their gross earnings and the School will contribute 9%. If you choose not to join the Group Personal Pension scheme and you fall into the category of “eligible worker” you will be automatically enrolled into the School’s alternative pension scheme, arranged via the Peoples Pension. The minimum employee contribution is 1% of “qualifying earnings” and the School will contribute 1%. Further details are available upon appointment.
