Patterdale Hall is a Residential Adventure Learning Centre, based in Glenridding on the shores of Lake Ullswater, which provides a variety of land and water based activities for school children and commercial clients. The Hall is part of Bolton School in Lancashire.

Patterdale Hall is Bolton School’s Outdoor Pursuits Centre based in Glenridding, Cumbria. The Hall primarily offers courses to pupils from Bolton School and also offers residential and activity programmes to commercial clients.

The Hall is looking to recruit a casual Cook to support the existing catering team at the Hall. This is a position to cope with the demands of a 7 day a week Centre operation. We are keen that applicants have some previous experience in food preparation (and are confident in the kitchen), but additional training and support will be provided, including Basic Food Hygiene.

Hours are likely to be in the peak season (March to November), and at this time is likely to be approximately 14 hours a week, on a split shift rotation (likely to be over two days). We envisage some on-going hours throughout the year.

The rate of pay for this position will be between £8.84 and £9.04 per hour, depending on skills and experience.

Responsibilities

To be responsible for the preparation, cooking and service of food, under the direction of the Patterdale Hall Residential Manager and/or in his absence the Cook in Charge, for the provision of catering services, in line with the requirements of the customer.

Salary £9.04 per hour

To be worked on a casual basis as and when requested by the Patterdale Hall Management.

Holiday

You will be entitled to receive pro-rata holiday pay of 5.6 weeks per annum. At the end of each month the School will pay you in lieu of any accrued but untaken holiday for the month. Holiday pay will be subject to the normal deductions.

Other information

All offers of employment will be made subject to the successful applicant providing the original qualification certificates, relevant to the position and as outlined in their application form. Identification documents will also be required including passport or picture driving licence, birth certificate, marriage certificate where applicable, current pay slip and evidence of address e.g. utilities bill, bank statement. Eligibility to work in the UK will be checked. After the appointment is made the successful candidate will be required to complete a medical questionnaire, a check of the Children’s Barred List will be done and an Enhanced Criminal Records Check will be carried out through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The School will seek two references prior to the interview.
